Baptist Medical Centre Schools · Saki, Oyo State · Est. 1902

Rooted in care.
Rising in excellence.

One institution, born from a mission station on a hillside in 1902 โ€” now home to three schools that carry the same steady pulse of Christian compassion and academic rigour, from nursery through Higher National Diploma.

“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” โ€” Matthew 25:40, Our Motto

About Us

Over a century of healing and service, carried into the classroom

Since its inception in 1902, Baptist Medical Centre (BMC), Saki has stood as a beacon of quality healthcare in the Oke-Ogun region of Oyo State. Established by the Nigerian Baptist Convention's Southern Baptist Mission, the Centre's evolution reflects the dedication of missionaries, indigenous leaders, healthcare professionals and the communities it serves. BMC Nursery & Primary School, BMC Secondary School and BMC College of Nursing all grew out of that same mission โ€” carrying its faith, discipline and care into the classroom and the training ward.

“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

Matthew 25:40 · Our Motto

Our Legacy: Over a Century of Healing and Service

  1. 1901–1902

A mission station on the hill

On 22 November 1901, Revd Duval arrived in Saki through the American Southern Baptist Mission, later joined by Miss Davey, Miss Donath, and Rev. and Mrs. Powell, during the reign of Okere Oyedokun I. With Rev. D. O. Toogun and Olaosebikan, he settled a preaching station at Okeboji in 1902. That May, Rev. and Mrs. Duval opened a small dispensary in their own home to care for converts.

  2. 1909

    The first expansion

The humble dispensary grew with four new rooms โ€” an outpatient department, a resting room, a laundry and consulting/counselling offices โ€” expanding patient care capacity.

  3. 1939–1945

    Trained nurses arrive

Miss Amanda Tinkle and Miss Mannie David arrived as trained nurses, strengthening clinical services during this period.

  4. 1952

    The modern hospital opens

With support from the Foreign Mission Board, the modern Baptist Hospital officially opened, significantly upgrading medical infrastructure and services for the Oke-Ogun region.

  5. 1969

    Carried on by indigenous leadership

Missionary doctors and nurses left due to the civil war, and Mr. T. A. Ogunjimi, a nurse, stepped in to manage the Centre โ€” a legacy of local leadership the institution still carries today.

  6. 1993

    BMC Secondary School is established

The secondary school opened in September 1993 as the first private secondary school in Oke-Ogun, set up as a model of academic and moral excellence for the region and for Nigeria at large.
